Star Wars (Big Logo Card Back)
Expanded Universe, 1998

In 1998, Kenner released a wave of toys that would go beyond what was seen in the theatrical movie releases.  Vehicles and action figures were developed based on conceptual design art and memorable characters from Star Wars Dark Horse comics, Bantam novels, and LucasArts video games.

The action figures featured a pop-out card back that provides a mini diorama for the action figure.  Early card back designs included a much larger logo, causing the action figure blisters to cover part of the "Expanded Universe" text.  This design continued pretty far into the preproduction process which were used for engineering pilots, salesman samples, etc.  However, Kenner reduced the entire logo prior to final production.
