I need some help in identifying what this is exactly. Production Luke Grappling Hook in grey on top and an Unknown Luke Grappling Hook in black on bottom. The black grappling hook is larger and really detailed, even more so than the production version, which is why I'm leaning towards it not being a bootleg. The design is almost identical for the most part, except for the Hook and the fact that the Scope is missing entirely. My thought is that it could potentially be an earlier design but I haven't been able to find any information to verify or refute that. I've searched for bootleg figures as well but have not been able to find any that have this grappling hook.
Same thing here on the back of an Emperor Tri-Logo card. The scope is present on everything that I've seen though.
Here's an interesting picture from a Dutch/French booklet. Luke's grappling hook differs here in that the tip is comprised of two small closed triangles. Not that this helps in identifying the black one I posted about, but it shows one alternate design element of Luke's grappling hook. & look at Vader's cape with the grey overspray!
I have done some research on this as well and while I cannot find anything that is identical, there are some things that are probably worth mentioning. First, the biggest physical differences between the two besides color is that the grappling hook is lacking the scope as found on the production. Second, the hook is more like a hook compared to the production as well. Parts of the hook are disconnected from the rest and appear to be more accurate of what to expect in real life. That being said, the closest bootleg that I have been able to find is black, missing the scope. However, the hand grip and hook are not the same.
