Star Wars Droid Factory Cancelled Wave
Legacy, 2013

In 2012, Hasbro announced the return of "Build a Droid" figures as part of the Legacy Collection Droid Factory series at the San Diego Comic-Con. At the time, Hasbro intended on releasing a total of thirty figures for release in 2013.
The first wave of seven figures were released as an Amazon exclusive. Shortly after, the line was cancelled, and the remaining characters were rebranded as part of the 3.75" Black Series line.

In the spring of 2015, a small number action figures, originally intended to be the second wave of action figures began to hit "Go! Calendars, Toys & Games" stores. According to the 22841 date stamps on these figures, they were manufactured on October 10, 2012. So while this series was cancelled, a small number of wave 2 figures ultimately reached collectors, making this one of the rarest runs of action figures produced.

The Line Up:
The sample figures below were created on the same day as the limited production run. While the sample figures include a 4-digit tracking number, the actual production figures do not contain this additional identifier.

Fun Fact:
While the cancelled wave offered the same "Build a Droid" figures as the first wave, there were plans to release BAD versions of R5-X2 and R8-B7 in future waves. Here is an example of these unproduced prototypes. It should be noted that Disney released a similar version to the R8-B7 in 2015. While the paint scheme was close, it used a different sculpt. The prototype has peg holes in the lower body and wiring that protrudes from the legs.
